PRODUCT CARE

SILVER

While silver tarnish is a natural process that happens over time, silver is particularly susceptible to the exposure sulfur, salt, direct sunlight, chlorinated water, humidity & acid.

Recommendations for tarnish & scratch prevention:

A. Wear your silver jewelry often: oils on your skin help to prevent the tarnish.

B. Keep your silver jewelry in an airtight, soft, fabric-lined box. Alternatively, you can put your silver in a small zip-lock plastic bag. If possible, put in a piece of chalk or a silica gel bag. Make sure the storage area has low humidity.

C. Store your silver jewelry pieces separately. As silver is a relatively soft material, this way you will avoid possible scratches.

Cleaning & polishing:

• Gently rub the silver several times with dry specialized jewelry polishing cloth

• Using a small amount of silver jewelry cleaner and a soft cloth (microfiber) gently rub the silver several times. Then rinse the silver thoroughly in warm water and dry.

NOTE: To avoid placing tarnish back on the silver while cleaning, make sure to frequently change and use a different section of your cloth. Do not use paper towels or other rough cloths to avoid scratches.

• We recommend polishing your silver jewelry at least every few months in order to keep your pieces looking good.

• When polishing, use long back-and-forth motions that mirror the grain of the silver. Do not rub in circles, as this will magnify any tiny scratches.

• Professional cleaning and polishing is highly recommended once a year.

GOLD PLATED JEWELLERY (ALSO KNOWN AS GOLD VERMEIL)

Since the layer of gold is very thin, friction between your skin and gold plated jewelry can slowly wear away the gold layer.

Recommendations for tarnish, discoloration & scratch prevention:

A. Do not wear your gold plated jewelry during activities that involve exposure to heat or moisture, for example, bathing, swimming, sauna, washing dishes etc.

B. If gold plated jewelry does get wet, immediately wipe it gently with a soft cloth.

C. After bathing or showering, wait until your skin is dry and only then put on your gold plated jewelry.

D. Avoid exposing your gold plated jewelry to sweat.

E. We recommend removing your gold plated jewelry before physical activities that may cause intensive jewelry friction or scratching.

F. We recommend removing your gold plated jewelry whilst sleeping to reduce time of friction and contact with your skin.

G. Avoid contact with soap, lotion, perfume, aerosols & other chemicals. Apply any lotion, cream, perfume or make-up before putting on your gold plated jewelry. You must wait until the lotion, cream or perfume has been absorbed by your skin..

I. Store your gold plated jewelry in a dry and soft place. Keep it separated from other jewelry to avoid rubbing & scratching against each other.

J. The best way to store gold plated items is using individual fabric pouches or fabric-lined jewelry boxes.

K. Avoid storing gold plated jewelry near a heat source.

Cleaning & polishing:

• Softly wipe with damp microfiber material.

• We do not recommend polishing gold plated jewelry.

NOTE: Do not use any abrasives, for example baking soda, toothbrush etc., to clean your gold plated jewelry, as they will most likely remove the layer of gold. Polishes used for solid silver & gold are also not suitable.

The gold plating will eventually wear off, however it can be easily re-plated. We offer this service. Please contact us for further details & prices.
